One of the oldest Christian hymns

Light a Candle to begin your prayer:

Almighty God open my mind and heart to your word as I read of your gift of Jesus Amen

Read Colossians chapter 1, verses 15-19

Reflection on Bible Reading:

This is one of the oldest hymns in the Christian church. It describes how in Jesus God reconciles humanity and God. Jesus is both 100% Human and 100% divine. The creator of the whole universe comes to earth as a tiny ball of cells in Mary’s womb to be born just like us.

Pray this prayer aloud:

Lord Jesus Christ,

your birth at Bethlehem

draws us to kneel in wonder at heaven touching earth:

accept our heartfelt praise

as we worship you,

our Saviour and our eternal God.

Amen
