This week our reading is taken from Matthew 24.36-44 read it aloud below: The Necessity for Watchfulness ‘But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. For as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away, so too will be the coming of the Son of Man. Over the last month or so we have been making our own bread for communion. The bread is made to a similar recipe which would have been used in Jesus’ time. With one exception we are using gluten free flour. So why do we do this? First off the bread and wine that we offer to God in communion symbolises all of us and all that we are. In offering up the bread we are giving back to God all our thanks for the goodness of our world and our lives. We are also offering up to God our hopes for the future and the pains that we suffer.
